A market order means you will be able to trade but you can’t be certain of the exact price it will happen at. A limit order means you can set a maximum or minimum price for how much you are willing to pay for or sell a share, but there’s no guarantee there’ll be anyone that wants to buy or sell at the price you are have offered.

Placing a market or a limit order can be as simple as thinking about the reason you are buying or selling shares - and there's trade-offs with both.
